The leaders enjoyed a tour of the various facilities of the current headquarters of Madrid City Council | Ver el Resumen del Programa en PDF
Throughout this week, the Leaders expressed their admiration for the Cibeles Palace every time they passed by it. For this reason, the Council Foundation organized a visit to the Madrid City Hall headquarters, which we were able to take thanks to the generosity of Rocío Picón, Deputy Director General of Cities and Countries at the Madrid City Hall.
The visit took the Leaders through the most emblematic corners of the former Palace of Communications, a building inaugurated in 1909 by the Spanish Postal and Telegraph Society. Designed by architects Antonio Palacios and Joaquín Otamendi, it has a façade that blends eclectic and Neo-Plateresque styles. Currently, the Cibeles Palace, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) with the category of Monument since 1993, not only houses the Mayor's Office and municipal offices, but also houses various public spaces such as a tourist information point, a museum ... the Café Cibeles cafeteria-restaurant; the CentroCentro cultural space; the Galería de Cristal; and its Mirador, offering privileged views of the city center.
