The new route operated by Singapore Airlines joins those opened in recent years within the framework of 'Madrid Turismo by IFEMA Madrid'
The Madrid City Council recently celebrated the announcement of a new air route that strengthens its connection with Asia. Operated by Singapore Airlines, it will link Madrid and Singapore airports with five weekly flights starting October 26. This new route, with an estimated impact of €265 million, will allow Madrid to attract high-end tourism from Asian markets and position itself on the global aviation map as the airport hub of Southern Europe.
The new route complements the "Madrid Tourism by IFEMA Madrid" plan, which has helped position the capital among the main source markets for Asian tourism. The flights to Singapore join the existing direct routes to Doha and Tokyo. Madrid also connects with nine Chinese destinations, including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Wenzhou; one South Korean destination, Seoul; and, seasonally, with Bangkok, Thailand.
Thanks to the reach of Singapore's airport network, more than 100 cities in Southeast Asia, Oceania, and the Indian subcontinent will be accessible from Madrid. For Almudena Maíllo, Madrid City Council's Delegate for Tourism, "the arrival of Singapore Airlines in Madrid is excellent news for the Madrid economy. This route, with an estimated impact of €265 million, opens up access to one of the world's fastest-growing markets."
