Our patron presented his first reforestation and biodiversity project at Talia Station, located in South Australia
Iberdrola Australia recently launched its first carbon removal project in the country. This 688-hectare reforestation and biodiversity project is located at Talia Station on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia and is being carried out through its subsidiary, Carbon2Nature Australia.
Carbon2Nature is the Iberdrola Group company specializing in nature-based solutions, already operating in Spain, Mexico, and Brazil. With this first project, a new subsidiary, Carbon2Nature Australia, is being launched, reinforcing Iberdrola's global commitment to biodiversity by integrating ecosystem restoration into its decarbonization strategy.
The Talia Station restoration aims to recover native forest, provide measurable benefits for biodiversity and local culture, and build ecological resilience.
Progress at the Broadsound Solar Park
Iberdrola Australia has also announced a significant milestone at its Broadsound Solar Park project in Queensland: Powerlink has energized the connection to the park ahead of schedule, representing a key step in supplying more renewable energy to Central Queensland.
This early energization allows Iberdrola Australia to begin testing before the solar park is fully operational, ensuring that solar energy can be exported to the grid without delay once commissioning is complete.
Iberdrola Australia's Chairman and CEO, Ross Rolfe, emphasized that "the safe and early completion of this project will result in cheaper and cleaner energy for the Queensland region."
The Broadsound Solar Park will have a generating capacity of 377 MW, enough to power approximately 140,000 homes.
