The mining services company extends one contract and secures two new ones for separate operations in New South Wales
Thiess, a mining services company belonging to the CIMIC Group, a subsidiary of our parent company ACS, announced developments in its operations in Australia in recent weeks.
First, ACS announced on its LinkedIn profile that Thiess has been awarded two key contracts for the refurbishment of an antimony and gold project at the Hillgrove mine in New South Wales. These contracts cover a comprehensive solution for mine development, as well as the engineering, procurement, and construction management of the processing plant, ensuring a safe and efficient restart.
Hillgrove was a pioneer in metal extraction, and this refurbishment will focus on efficient and sustainable long-term production. According to ACS, this mine has the potential to supply approximately 7% of the world's antimony demand, in addition to its gold production.
Furthermore, our parent company also announced on its website the expansion of Thiess's collaboration with MACH Energy for the operation of Mount Pleasant, also in New South Wales. This new agreement will last for six years and expands the work carried out by the ACS subsidiary: it will continue to offer comprehensive mining services at Mount Pleasant, encompassing mine planning and engineering, drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, ore handling, asset management and maintenance, as well as progressive rehabilitation, all to support the mine's expansion.
Thiess CEO Michael Wright notes, "We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with MACH Energy, which began with the mine's commissioning. Since 2017, our team has consistently met production targets and achieved excellent safety results."
