Acciona is awarded two contracts and shortlisted for another one in Australia.

It will be responsible for the construction of a desalination plant in South Australia and will modernize the Boronia station in Melbourne.

Recently, our patron Acciona announced the award of two new contracts in Australia, as well as its inclusion on the shortlist for another project in the country.

First, Acciona has been selected as the main construction partner for the Eyre Peninsula desalination plant at Billy Lights Point, outside Port Lincoln, South Australia. With a capacity of 5.3 gigaliters per year, this plant is crucial for providing drinking water to approximately 35,000 SA Water customers.

The company has worked closely with SA Water to improve the project design, particularly to ensure minimal environmental impact. Among other actions, the project includes the installation of marine pipelines by tunneling beneath the coastline and intertidal zones to protect the integrity of the coastline and marine environments.

Danny Parkinson, Acciona's Regional Manager for South Australia, noted that the company has "a strong track record in water security."

Second, Acciona Australia posted on its X account that it is leading the Southern Program Alliance for the modernization of Boronia Station in Melbourne. The project includes a new landscaped plaza, improved pedestrian crossings, improved lighting, and CCTV for enhanced safety. These measures will significantly improve the overall traveler experience.

Finally, Acciona also announced its inclusion on the shortlist for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Wyaralong Water Treatment Plant in Queensland. This project will support the region's growing water security needs.

"This opportunity aligns perfectly with Acciona's global expertise in providing innovative water infrastructure solutions," says David Balmer, Acciona's Regional Director for Queensland.

The Wyaralong project includes a 120 ML/day advanced water treatment plant, a raw water pumping station, and a 14-kilometer interconnection pipeline that connects to the Southern Regional Pipeline.
