The collaboration between RMIT and the SACF is growing ever closer

Two years after joining the Board of Trustees of the Spain–Australia Council Foundation, the Australian university takes a positive view of its participation in our public–private collaboration project

In 2023, RMIT became the first Australian institution to join the Board of Trustees of the Spain–Australia Council Foundation.

To commemorate this second anniversary and celebrate the success of this close collaboration, a luncheon was held on October 7, attended by the Australian Ambassador to Spain, Rosemary Morris-Castico, and RMIT Chancellor Peggy O’Neal AO.

As highlighted on the occasion of this anniversary, the economic relationship between Australia and Spain is significant and continues to grow. Spanish investment in Australia reached a value of 5 billion Australian dollars in 2024. Major Spanish companies active in Australia—such as ACCIONA, Iberdrola, Grupo ACS, Ferrovial, and Navantia—all members of the Board of Trustees of the Spain–Australia Council Foundation, have a strong focus on infrastructure and renewable energy.

As an active member of the SACF, RMIT emphasized that it shares with them the common goal of strengthening and deepening bilateral relations between our two countries. Partnerships are at the heart of the Australian educational institution and reflect the contribution it seeks to make within its international environments.

Thanks to the Spain–Australia Council Foundation, RMIT and the other members of its Board of Trustees have a space for meeting, dialogue, and knowledge-sharing, which promotes both their collective and individual objectives by leveraging the diverse strengths of the Board’s heterogeneous composition.
