The new facility, located in Queensland, will combine 330 MW of solar capacity with 180 MW of battery storage
Our parent company, Naturgy, through its international subsidiary GLOBAL POWER GENERATION (GPG), recently announced a €300 million investment in the development of a new renewable energy facility in Australia.
Located in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, the new facility will combine 330 MW of solar capacity and 180 MW of battery storage. This combination will provide greater flexibility to the electricity system and help optimize the management of the renewable energy generated.
Fraser Coast will also have a 10-year long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), guaranteeing the long-term sale of the renewable electricity produced by the plant. This agreement strengthens the plant's revenue visibility and highlights the attractiveness of Naturgy's projects for large consumers committed to their decarbonization goals.
The project is now entering the construction phase and is expected to begin operations in 2028. Once operational, the plant will help strengthen Naturgy's presence in Australia and boost the company's international growth.
Australia is a very attractive market for Naturgy within its renewable energy growth and development plan. The company has an operational portfolio of 1.3 GW, which includes six wind farms, two solar plants, the group's first storage facility worldwide (ATC Battery), and its first hybrid photovoltaic and battery storage project (Cunderdin).
