Acciona reinforces its presence in Australia with new contracts and professional accreditations

Agrees with Sydney Water and SMEC to create the Malabar System Alliance, marking the start of a ten-year investment program

Representatives from Acciona, Sydney Water and SMEC formally signed the agreement for the Malabar System Alliance (MSA). This agreement marks the beginning of a ten-year investment program with the aim of expanding and modernizing wastewater treatment capacity in the south and east of the Australian city, through coordinated improvements at key facilities.

The program will support population and service growth by improving system resilience, improving environmental performance and enabling more sustainable water management across the network.

For Rob Dierkx, Alliance Manager at Acciona, the MSA "focuses on providing reliable, resilient and efficient wastewater services that keep pace with Sydney's growth while protecting local waterways and communities."

The first scheme within the program focuses on improvements to the Liverpool and Glenfield Water Resources Recovery Facilities, strengthening the wastewater network and consolidating treatment into a single secondary facility to improve long-term operational performance. MSA's innovative design is expected to deliver up to a 60 percent improvement in energy efficiency and support more sustainable resource management over the life of the assets.

Structural steel certification

Furthermore, Acciona Mecánica y Eléctrica in Australia recently obtained AS/NZS 5131 CC3 accreditation, which confirms our employer's ability to supply complex and high-risk steel structures for large infrastructure projects.

CC3 accreditation is reserved for organizations that supply steel framing for critical structures such as bridges, transport corridors and transmission towers. It demonstrates a commitment to safety, quality and technical excellence, as well as ensuring that each stage of production meets rigorous standards.
